Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief and member of National Assembly Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao was targeted in a suicide attack in Charsadda few days attack amid killing of high profile personalities including Sabeen Mahmud and a Police DSP. These attack show that Pakistan has yet to fight a long war against terrorists. It is just beginning as the previous decades Political and military leadership just played a game of hide and seek with terrorists. They were just looking busy but doing nothing. After December 16 it appeared that things have reached to tipping point but it did not happen actually but the lukewarm response on NAP left many questions behind. Do the authorities intend real, meaningful action or are they still looking to stage manage some mass catharsis and bid their time before returning to their old ways? One can find many reasons behind going to be skeptical in this case. The ideas and ideals of NAP are still far from becoming a reality. Terrorists have struck a number of times since Peshawar, targeting minority communities at will. The talk of dismantling their infrastructure and degrading their base did not seem too compelling when terrorists were able to strike so openly. The government is advised to place NAP at the top of its priority list. Unless the security situation is restored to normal, efforts at economic and financial revival are not likely to bear fruit but nothing happened. The balloon of sentiments and vows to end terrorism just got punctured and Government has adopted the old bad ways. If situation continues the day is not very far the leader of political parties would fall victim of terrorism one by one.
