An election tribunal yesterday ordered re-election in Lahore’s NA-125 and PP-155 constituencies after rigging on the seats was proven during the 2013 general elections. The one-page verdict said that the ballot bags had been opened with a sharp object and the records had been tampered with.

It is pertinent to mention that a Judicial commission under the headship of Chief Justice of Pakistan has been probing 2013 poll rigging and both the parties, PTI and PML-N have submitted their evidences in this regard. NA-125 is the constituency that was won by PML-N candidate Khawaja Saad Rafique  (minister for railways) and soon after the end of election PTI Chairman Imran Khan accused of Khawaj Saad Rafique for massive rigging in the polls. The decision by Election Tribunal is a great blow back for PML-N and a moral victory of the PTI chief which has got moral grounds to his claims of poll rigging in 2013 general elections. Also he could take this decision to judicial commission to substantiate his claims regarding rigging. The result of this constituency could also affect number of other polling stations which could be observed by Judicial commission who is probing into poll rigging. This decision is a great blow back for the PML-N that vehemently rejected Imran Khan’s claim of rigging.
