China’s President XI Jinping has reached to Pakistan on a historic visit that is expected to bring prosperity to Pakistan. The landmark and high profile visit of Mr Xi is being considered as a game changer not only for the two countries but also for entire region as the projects of Pak-China Economic Corridor will be beneficial for economic development and prosperity of the people of South Asia and Central Asia as well. The two sides are presently working together to steadily advance the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor to build a community of destiny to expand their converging interests and strive for common development with the aim to deliver even more benefits to their peoples and realise brighter development prospects. In the field of economy, both countries have many commonalities. Over 130 Chinese companies and firms are working in Pakistan for the economic development of Pakistan. These include the exploration of oil and gas, minerals, energy sectors and development of national infrastructure. Although the volume of bilateral trade between Pakistan and China ($15 billions) is less, yet, there are lot of potentials of enhancing it in the coming years with a balance in the trade. On the social level, there is growing interaction between the people of both countries. Traditionally, this has been a grey area, however, through enhanced economic relations; exchange of students and people from civil societies and media, there is lot of warmth for promoting and enhancing this aspect of Sino-Pak bilateral relations. The strategic nature of Sino-Pak relationship, which essentially emanates from the national interests of both countries are generally attributed as, “community of common destiny”. This is not merely a symbolic phrase, but, truly unite the destinies of both nations; strategically, politically, economically, militarily and finally in the field of social interaction. The contemporary regional and global strategic and economic developments indeed, dictate a high degree of cooperation and coordination in all fields between Pakistan and China.
This visit would further strengthen the ties between both the countries which is not only beneficial for the people of the countries but also for the region at large. Increased trade activities in the region with opening of Gawadar and CPEC would bring increased trade activities and prosperity in the region.
