What Charlie Hebdo did has unleashed accusations of a double standard, in which free speech applies to those who mock Islam while Muslims are penalized for expressing their own provocative views. Many Muslims complain that France aggressively prosecutes anti-Semitic slurs, but that they are not protected from similar racist speech. While West has significant punishments for discussing Holocaust and there is a ban to discuss it publically. In US you even cannot talk about apartheid. Is it not against freedom of speech? When it comes to the dignity of Muslims and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ there freedom of speech hurts. West should understand that Muslims will continue to stop such derogatory acts by raising their voice or taking up their arms. No Muslim can compromise over the respect and dignity of their prophet ﷺ.
