Some 200 religious scholars have issued a decree against suicide attacks and termed them unlawful under Islamic law. According to Dawn news “the decree issued at a conference of ulema here on Sunday said the philosophy behind the self-styled Islamic State (IS), banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram and other so-called jihadi outfits was misleading.” Such groups operated in an un-Islamic manner and their thinking was flawed because it was based on poor knowledge and ignorance, said the decree released to the media by Maulana Ziaul Haq Naqshbandi.
The decree against Suicide attacks have been issued by number of Sunni clerics on several occasions, the ulema have not only condemned Suicide bombing but declared it Haram as well. However the core issue is that such decrees value nothing to terrorists because most of them belong to Salafist mindset. TTP and other terrorist outfits are more influenced by Deobandi and Salafi sects of Islam, thus they value the “ Fatwas” issued by such Ulemas. However the core issue is that Salafi and Deobandi Ulema never condemned the suicide attacks, because they never wanted to go against their own students.
