India-Israel ties are an open secret. According to some reports India might consider changing its stance on Palestine at the United Nations. Furthermore bilateral trade between India and Israel is reported to be about $6 billion. A free trade agreement that could further increase trade between the two countries is also being discussed. All these developments show Indian keenness to further their ties with Israel. A day before almost all the top newspapers of the world made a headline citing Israel defence minister, that tie between India and Israel are out of closet. The Reuters added that “Israel has emerged as one of India’s top three arms suppliers, delivering items such as ship defence missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, but such transactions have been unpublicised, largely because of India’s fear of upsetting Arab countries and its own large Muslim population”.
Closing Israel-India ties may be an upset for Iran, who is totally Anti-Israel. India always remained keen to have good ties with Iran as well, and definitely India would never want to any break in ties with Iran. But after this move India’s ties with Iran may have been caused hiccups in its relations with Israel, but with India’s emergence as a growing economy, it can afford to do business with other nations on its own terms as well.
Now Iran should seriously ponder to review its ties with India. Because Indian bonhomie with Israel would definitely hamper Iran’s cause on Israel, which Iran would never welcome.
