Shafaqna Pakistan:Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz remains tight-lipped despite many associating her silence with an alleged understanding of Sharif family with the establishment.

Maryam, arrested on August 8 in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, was granted bail in the first week of November by Lahore High Court. Since then, she has been quiet, especially on social media, where she had been active before her arrest.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that she has been tacit. Last year, after her sentence in the Avenfield reference, she had kept complete silence.
Initially, the hush was attributed to her mother’s death but after the passage of 40 days of mourning period, senior party leaders started opining.

Earlier in November, a party source said that given the overall circumstances, it was not in the interest of Sharif family for Maryam to start making political statements. The source said that Maryam would continue to maintain her silence until the situation settles.

According to a PML-N spokesperson, Maryam is under severe mental stress because of her father’s health complications and has decided not to take part in politics for now.

The party spokesperson claimed that when Maryam feels like, she would resume her political activities.

Meanwhile, PML-N provincial spokesperson Azma Bukhari claimed that Maryam, beside mental stress due to her father’s condition, had severe pain in the neck, as well as blood pressure issues.

Bukhari said that the PML-N leader was also looking after her ailing grandmother.
