Shafaqna Pakistan: Weekly inflation in Pakistan rose by 0.49% amid higher petroleum prices, pushing the annual inflation rate to 9.66%, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The PBS report showed that prices of 23 essential commodities increased during the week, while 10 items became cheaper and 18 remained unchanged.
Petrol prices registered the sharpest increase among major items, rising 3.77%, while onion prices surged 14.17% and chicken became 3.35% more expensive. Prices of other essential commodities, including gram pulse, garlic and tea, also recorded increases.
Meanwhile, egg prices fell 5.78% during the week, while diesel became 5.15% cheaper.
The report said tomato prices fell by 4.99 percent and potato prices declined by 1.17 percent. Prices of sugar, LPG and bananas also decreased during the week.
