Shafaqna Pakistan:- Around 3.7 million children in Afghanistan are suffering from wasting, including nearly 1 million facing life-threatening severe acute malnutrition, according to UNICEF.
UNICEF Representative in Afghanistan Tajudeen Oyewale said infants younger than six months make up almost 40% of children admitted to hospitals with severe wasting and related medical complications.
He said children under the age of two account for 83% of severe acute malnutrition cases in the country.
According to Oyewale, more than 500,000 children have been admitted for high-risk moderate wasting and severe wasting since the start of the year.
