Shafaqna Pakistan: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday termed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement a “significant milestone” in Pakistan’s history, while praising Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for their roles in the agreement.
In a post on X, Bilawal said the agreement represented a historic development that would further strengthen Pakistan’s defence capabilities.
He said the pact would not only contribute to the security and stability of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye but would also serve as an important step towards promoting peace and stability at the regional and global levels.
“The role of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir in making this agreement possible is commendable,” he said.
A day earlier, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, reaffirming their commitment to collective security, defence cooperation and regional stability.
The agreement establishes a framework for collective deterrence against acts of aggression and stipulates that an armed attack against any one of the three signatory states will be regarded as an attack against all three.
