Govt approves army deployment in Rawalpindi under Article 245

Shafaqna Pakistan: The federal government has approved the deployment of Pakistan Army troops in Rawalpindi for six months to assist the district administration in maintaining law and order.

The deployment was authorised under Article 245 of the Constitution following a request from the Punjab Home Department.

Under the decision, three companies of the Pakistan Army, comprising more than 400 personnel, will be stationed in Rawalpindi for the six-month period.

The army personnel will work alongside the district administration to strengthen security arrangements and maintain law and order in the city.

Under the approved plan, security will be enhanced at sensitive locations and key roads, while the military will assist the civil administration in dealing with any potential untoward situation..
