Shafaqna Pakistan: Jamaat-e-Islami (Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan) emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that a class-based education system is in contradiction with the Constitution and runs against the interests of Pakistan.
Speaking at a “Become Capable” event on Saturday, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman alleged that the country has been governed by what he described as elites, including landlords and bureaucratic structures.
He stated that around 35 million children in Pakistan are currently out of school, calling it evidence of systemic failure and lack of responsibility among ruling institutions. He urged young people not to lose hope and to continue resisting injustice and inequality.
The JI leader further said that real change requires transforming the system rather than simply changing individuals or leadership figures. He also described the “Banu Qabal” programme as a potentially transformative initiative, reiterating that under the Constitution, it is the state’s responsibility to provide free and quality education up to matriculation level.
He said motorcyclists pay heavy taxes, while landlords and wealthy people do not pay taxes. “Why is a petrol and gas agreement not signed with Iran? If the gas pipeline is operational, the wheels of industry will turn,” he went on saying.
The JI chief added that the Balochistan region is also deprived of gas. The entire Balochistan can get gas through a virtual pipeline. There are large marble mines in Balochistan, he added.
