Iftikhar Gilani sworn in as 17th AJK premier, promises reforms

Shafaqna Pakistan: Newly elected Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani took oath of office on Friday, with Acting AJK President Chaudhry Tariq Farooq administering the oath.

Speaking at the AJK Legislative Assembly following the ceremony, Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Gilani also thanked the party leadership and all those who placed their confidence in him and supported his election as prime minister.

He said collective efforts would be essential to turn Azad Kashmir into a model of development, prosperity and progress.

The newly elected prime minister said his government would need the support of members of the Legislative Assembly to achieve its objectives.

He pledged to work for the betterment of Azad Kashmir with the cooperation of all assembly members.
