Shafaqna Pakistan: The central 8th Muharram procession was held in Karachi on Wednesday under tight security arrangements, with thousands of mourners taking part in the observance. The procession concluded at the Hussainia Iranian Imambargah after following its traditional route through the city.
Before the procession began, a central Majlis-e-Aza was held at Nishtar Park, where Maulana Hussain Shehnshah Naqvi addressed participants and reflected on the significance of the sacrifices made in Battle of Karbala.
Organised by Anjuman Sadat Amroha, the procession started from Nishtar Park following the conclusion of the majlis and was led by the Abul Hassan Scouts.
The procession moved along its customary route, passing through several key areas of the city before reaching Nishtar Road, where mourners offered prayers. Participants also paid floral tributes at the alams, while arrangements for nazr-o-niyaz were made along the route to facilitate mourners taking part in the religious observance.
The procession later resumed its journey along MA Jinnah Road before concluding at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.
Authorities implemented comprehensive security measures throughout the event. All roads leading to the procession route were sealed with containers, while police and Rangers personnel remained deployed at key points to ensure safety.
Mobile phone services remained suspended along the route, and snipers were positioned atop high-rise buildings overlooking the procession. Security officials also monitored the event through surveillance cameras installed at various locations.
To facilitate participants, numerous sabeels providing drinking water and refreshments, along with medical camps, were established along the procession route.
