UN accuses Sudanese forces of genocide

Shafaqna Pakistan: A UN-affiliated fact-finding mission announced on Wednesday that Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) carried out mass executions, the abduction of women and girls, widespread gang rapes, and the deliberate use of starvation during their siege and capture of al-Fashir in North Darfur last year, concluding that the acts amount to genocide.

According to the UN Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan, the abuses were committed by the RSF during the ongoing civil war against the Sudanese army. The investigation found that the alleged atrocities took place in al-Fashir, a strategic city in North Darfur that the paramilitary group seized after a prolonged siege.
