Shafaqna Pakistan: Pakistan’s trade deficit widened 21.6% year-on-year to $39.47 billion in fiscal year 2025–26 as imports increased and exports declined, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Friday.
The bureau said exports fell nearly 6% from the previous fiscal year to $30.126 billion, while imports rose 7.9% to $69.597 billion, further widening the gap between the country’s exports and imports.
In June alone, exports declined 16.7% month-on-month to $2.239 billion, whereas imports increased 24.1% to $6.767 billion, resulting in a monthly trade deficit of $4.528 billion.
The data also showed that the trade deficit surged 63.8% in June compared with the previous month.
On an annual basis, June exports declined 9.6%, while imports increased 26.3%. The monthly trade deficit was 57.1% higher than in June 2025, according to the bureau’s figures.
