Shafaqna Pakistan: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has said Tehran and Muscat have reached an understanding on the geographical aspects of the shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, with a formal announcement expected once the process reaches its final stage.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the agreement between Iran and Oman could be announced soon, provided there is no interference from any third party.
He clarified that the proposed arrangement is not intended to make the Strait of Hormuz completely secure or remove all restrictions on navigation.
Instead, Baghaei said the understanding focuses on the administrative management of the strategically important maritime passage.
He also noted that there are currently no plans for Iran’s foreign minister or the speaker of parliament to visit Pakistan or Qatar.
However, he noted that Iran has exchanged views with both countries on the issue.
He expressed hope that all relevant parties would exercise restraint to help reduce regional tensions and allow progress on matters related to maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, the Saudi cabinet has called for a resolution to the Iran-US war through negotiations, stressing that dialogue is essential to ending the conflict.
The cabinet meeting, chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, emphasised the need to reduce tensions across the region.
