70,000 Palestinians Perform Friday Prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque on 14 August 2026

Shafaqna Pakistan: Around 70,000 Palestinians performed Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque despite stringent Israeli restrictions imposed on worshippers and access points around the mosque and Jerusalem’s Old City.

The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem said approximately 70,000 worshippers attended the Friday prayer at the holy site.

Israeli forces imposed tighter restrictions on access to the mosque, preventing dozens of young men from reaching the compound. They also detained a young Palestinian near Bab Hutta in the Old City, according to local sources.

Security forces deployed metal barriers along roads and around the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque, stopping worshippers and checking their identification documents before allowing access.

Earlier Friday, thousands of Palestinians also performed dawn prayer at Aqsa Mosque despite restrictions imposed by Israeli forces and their heavy deployment around the Mosque, the Old City and streets across Occupied Jerusalem.

Worshipers arrived at Aqsa’s courtyards and prayer halls from various Palestinian areas, the occupied West Bank and neighborhoods across Jerusalem.
