Shafaqna Pakistan: The government has again increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), with the new rates set to remain in effect for three days from August 22 to 24.
According to an official notification issued on Friday, petrol prices have been raised by Rs3.81 per litre to Rs341.59 per litre.
The price of high-speed diesel has also been increased by Rs3.59 per litre, taking it to Rs368.29 per litre.
The revised prices will come into effect on August 22 and remain applicable through August 24.
The latest increase comes just days after the previous adjustment, as the government continues to revise petroleum prices more frequently under its new pricing mechanism.
Petrol and diesel prices remain important for consumers and businesses because of their direct impact on household expenditure, transportation and commercial activity.
The latest increase means a consumer buying 40 litres of petrol will now pay approximately Rs13,664, while filling a 50-litre tank will cost around Rs17,080 at the new rate.
High-speed diesel has an even broader impact on the economy because of its extensive use in goods transportation, agriculture and commercial vehicles. Higher diesel prices can increase freight and logistics expenses, potentially adding to the cost of transporting essential commodities and other goods.
