Vance’s comments come as Iran denies that its negotiating with the US. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said earlier Wednesday that Iran has not yet decided whether to proceed towards the implementation of a US-Iran memorandum of understanding.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran continues to face mounting pressure from sanctions and conflict, describing the current period as the most difficult since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
In an interview Wednesday with state-run media on the second anniversary of his inauguration, Pezeshkian said sanctions have steadily intensified and were followed by military confrontation. He spoke amid efforts to revive diplomacy between Tehran and Washington.
“The circumstances we face now are the toughest possible conditions in the history since the revolution,” Pezeshkian told the official Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). “Sanctions existed, and they increased. Then, they sanctioned our banks and our financial operations. Not satisfied with this, they launched a war. Still dissatisfied, they tried to corner us.”
Iran warns Gulf states of retaliation if US launches new strikes
Iran has warned Persian Gulf states that any new US attack on its territory would prompt strikes on critical energy infrastructure and other regional targets, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing five sources familiar with the discussions.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi conveyed the warning in contacts with Saudi, Turkish and Qatari officials and Pakistan’s army chief, while urging Washington’s regional allies to press President Donald Trump to return to diplomacy, a senior regional diplomat cited by Reuters said.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman subsequently urged Trump to delay military action, pursue negotiations and seek a ceasefire, the diplomat and Persian Gulf sources cited by Reuters said.
