Shafaqna Pakistan: US President Donald Trump has warned Iran and countries maintaining economic ties with Tehran of what he described as an unprecedented campaign of economic pressure and isolation against the Islamic Republic.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused Iran of failing to seize opportunities to reach an agreement with his administration, saying Washington would pursue “Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale”.
Trump said no one had given Iran a greater opportunity to reach a deal than his administration, but claimed Tehran had failed to take advantage of it.
He also asserted that Iran’s navy and air force had been destroyed, its military production facilities reduced to rubble and its currency rendered “worthless”. The latest warning comes as Washington prepares further measures against Iran and threatens severe economic consequences for countries and entities providing financial or commercial support to Tehran.
The US president warned that countries allowing their financial institutions, companies, airports or government agencies to provide economic support to Iran would face what he called “TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences.”
He specifically called for an end to oil smuggling, financial swap arrangements, cash transfers, exchange-house transactions, ship registrations and the use of front companies to support Iran’s economy.
“It all needs to stop NOW,” Trump said, describing the planned measures as an “ECONOMIC D-DAY” and urging US allies to join Washington’s efforts to isolate Tehran.
Trump said the campaign was intended to further weaken Iran’s ability to “project terror worldwide” while reiterating his administration’s opposition to Iran obtaining nuclear weapons.
“IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,” he said.
